Driving in Dubai is getting increasingly more difficult. Drivers, trained and examined in various corners of the world, come together in Dubai and bring with them their own unique 'style'. The roads in Dubai are in excellent condition, the cars are mainly new - many of them expensive and fast - and everybody seems to be in a hurry.
The accident rate in Dubai is extremely high and so, unfortunately, are fatalities. The Dubai Government has made a number of attempts to curb reckless driving - issuing a points system where reckless drivers get points off their license which eventually ends in their license being suspended. Fines have also been increased in an attempt to stop people speeding and breaking other safety rules - however monetary fines are not a big enough deterrent for many a driver in the UAE. |
