Better Wake up to(the ID Card Deadline
|
|
With just 46 days to go (much less if you take away the public holidays), getting your National Identity Card is going to be an uphill task. Get online and book your appointment immediately. The best time to get on to the official web site is when the rest of the Emirates is sleeping — 2am-4am!
Whatever day you choose for your appointment, make sure you write off
that entire day. Don’t schedule any meetings or have any other
commitments.
With the crowds building up at the 24 centres, a long wait to complete
the process awaits you. In theory, appointments can also be made by
telephoning a single number at the EIDA — 600 523432.
All applicants can fill in the registration form at www.emiratesid.ae
and print it out — with the bar code, without which it is void.
Alternatively, get the forms typed out at any of the listed centres
before hand. This will help cut down on the waiting time at the form
counters at the EIDA.
What documents do you have to carry? Each applicant must carry his/her passport. Nothing more.
Is there an interview? At the time of submission of the forms at the
counter, there is a short interview and it’s best you go prepared.
Some of the questions you may be asked are: Your religion, educational
qualification and the year you passed out of school/college and your
mother tongue.
The interview over, you will be given a queue number and you then await
your turn for the process of being photographed and your electronic
signature being taken.
This done, you move to another counter where you will be fingerprinted.
Empost will send the National ID Card to you at the address you have
given in the form.
It should take about 10 days for delivery.
