Dubai Cares brings colour to school

A school for underprivileged children has been brought back to life as part of the Dubai Cares project following the Al Gurg Group company's donation of time and materials. Company staff assisted Dubai Care volunteers at the Manar Al Eman School in Ajman to brighten up the 23 classrooms. More than 540 litres of paint were used by a team of professional decorators.

Urgent need

The school was in urgent need of a coat of paint and was falling short of a conducive environment - which is vital for effective teaching.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai launched the Dubai Cares initiative in September 2007. Inspired by Shaikh Mohammad's belief that education is the most effective tool to break the cycle of poverty, Dubai Cares aims to improve children's access to primary education.

"It was a real pleasure to be able to offer our assistance to the staff and pupils of Manar Al Eman School," said Sunil Gudur, chief manager, Al Gurg.

Officials from the Ministry of Health and Education who visited the school to witness the activity appreciated AGLP's effort and complimented AGLP's management on its commitment to Dubai Cares.
