Shaikh Mohammed orders with the introduction of the Dubai International Festival of Poetry

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai, yesterday the launch of "Dubai International Poetry
Festival as an annual event to celebrate the Arabic poetry and
promoting understanding through international through one of the most
durable genres.
Held under the theme "Poets Miles, a language", activity-packed annual
event aims to attract 1000 internationally acclaimed poets from around
the world in the next five years.
Various forms of classical and contemporary Arabic poetry during the
festival. The exploitation of Nabati poetry, a unique form indigenous
to the signals of the Gulf, is an essential part of the event because
of its importance as an integral part of the cultural fabric of the
region.
May bin Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai
Culture and Art (DCA), said: "The poetry is a literary universal path
where people speak the same language of truth and sincerity, though by
different dialects."
Poetry workshops, reading sessions, workshops and open debates on the
role of poetry in creating a common language for humanity will promote
understanding of the role as part of the festival.
The event will evolve as an important supplement to the cultural
calendar of the region, offers an excellent platform for the exchange
of literary knowledge, and the interaction between prominent Arab poets
and their international colleagues.
