his area was basically a stretch of desert until recently. However, rapid construction has been going on and villas and residential buildings are filling it up. The most popular place to live here is Uptown Mirdif, a residential and leisure complex comprising townhouses and apartments. It’s also home to a Fitness First gym and lots of great cafés and boutiques. Although a lovely suburb, Mirdif is very close to Dubai International Airport, so you’ll often hear the aeroplanes flying in and out.
There’s an abundance of independent villas in Al Warqaa but most of them are owned and occupied by local families. The problem here is there’s lots of desert between the villas and the area lacks proper roads. So, if you call for a taxi, the driver may find it difficult to find your house. At present, there are very few facilities nearby but, with all the construction going on, we don’t think it will be a problem for long.
