Sights to See
The UAE is a relatively young country with a history going back to a mere 36 years. Yet you would be surprised at the rich history it carries. As you travel through the streets of Dubai, you can’t help but notice the stark difference between old and new. Imagine that in these 36 years, Dubai went from traditional Arabic houses using wind towers to keep cool, to glistening skyscrapers that are among the tallest in the world. That’s not to mention that Dubai boast’s the world’s tallest building, the only seven star hotel in the world, and a number of other master developments that will blow your mind away.

Although there is an abundance of things to do and sights to see Dubai, we have come up with the must-sees that you’re trip to Dubai wouldn’t be complete without.


Bastakiya
Take a peek into Dubai’s past by visiting the Bastakiya district. With its narrow paths and old Arabic architecture, you’ll be amazed that this was Dubai not so long ago. Many of the homes have been refurbished into art galleries, shops, and cafés. For a real taste of Dubai heritage, a visit to Bastakiya is a must.

Burj Al Arab
Built on its own man-made island to resemble a billowing sail, not many modern sights can compete with the Burj Al Arab. It is the world’s only 7-star hotel and boasts clientele that include many of the world’s richest and most famous. Even if you can’t afford to stay there, believe us, it’s a sight that you truly can’t miss when visiting Dubai.

Burj Dubai
Burj Dubai (meaning tower of Dubai in Arabic) is still under construction but has already become the world’s tallest building. Driving down Shiekh Zayed Road, you’re sure to catch a glimpse of it. Come to think of it, you’re sure to see it driving down almost any road it Dubai!

Dhow Cruises
What can be a better way to experience Dubai than to cruise down the Dubai Creek enjoying the fascinating sights that it has to offer? A variety of different packages to choose from, but for a reasonable price, most trips offer you an open buffet dinner and on-board entertainment.

Downtown Burj Dubai
Dubai has truly become a city of modern wonders. Downtown Burj Dubai boasts the world’s tallest building, known as the Burj Dubai (the Arabic name for tower of Dubai). As if that wasn’t enough, the world’s biggest mall is also in the final stage of completion. With 836,000sq.m. and 1,200 stores, it will take the concept of shopping to a whole new level. Although these two projects are not yet complete, you can certainly look from afar and marvel at their sheer size. While you are there, make sure you visit Souk Al Bahar (the Arabic words for market of the seaman), an Arabic style market at the base of Burj Dubai.

Dubai Creek
The Creek is a natural sea water inlet which cuts through the centre of the city. It is a historic focal point of life in Dubai and a stroll along its banks will give you a taste of the city’s centuries-old trading traditions. The best way to view the Creek and the dhows is from an ‘abra’, one of the small water taxis which cross the Creek from the souks of Deira to those on the Bur Dubai side.

Dubai Marina
Dubai Marina is truly a splendor. It is an entirely man-made marina boasting super tall skyscrapers and beautiful yachts all lined up for you to enjoy. It’s a great place to spend the day with its abundance of cafés and restaurants as well as a row of kiosks that sell arts and crafts from various destinations. It’s also the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset and just have a carefree outing with your family and friends.
